Alastair McGowan provides traditional stonemasonry solutions ranging from components of new buildings to the conservation of historic buildings and monuments. The skills of stonemasonry, vernacular stone building, and contemporary technical repair and structural solutions are all covered.
Alastair has nearly twenty five years experience on private, commercial, and public projects, on work including shaped and carved stone, conservation and cleaning, repair of damaged and worn stone, new and extended structures, stone walling, reinforcement and other structural solutions, paving, consolidation, use of lime (eg pointing and grouting) and stone reconstitution (stone repair).
Stone can be matched and sourced, and Alastair can advise on heritage buildings standards and help to develop solutions in conjunction with conservation officers, engineers, and builders. Other support skills are provided by a network of experienced specialists from workshop to onsite fixing and building.
